It's coming!
Yesterday, I sent the manuscript for my next book into the publisher.
After decades of living it, years of teaching it, and months of writing it, “Small Church Essentials” is in the capable hands of the great editors at Moody Press.
Here are some details.
- The full title is “Small Church Essentials: Field-Tested Principles For Leading A Healthy Church Of Under 250.”
- Yes, that includes churches that are way under 250. Churches under 100 will probably get the most out of it.
- It’s a continuation of the ideas I wrote about in The Grasshopper Myth.
- While that book was predominantly a statement about the value of small churches, this book has a more nuts-and-bolts approach to pastoring a small church well.
As a sneak peek, some of the chapter titles (subject to change) include:
- Embracing The Small Church Without Settling For Less
- Why Is My Church So Weird?
- Is Your Small Church Stuck? Or Strategic?
- Becoming A More Welcoming Small Church
- Why Planning Is Different In The Small Church
- Tackling Some Chronic Small Church Issues
- Starting, Changing Or Stopping A Ministry
In the coming months, you’ll receive updates about cover art, promotional materials, early-bird orders, and ways that you can help get the word out, including being on the “Small Church Essentials” launch team.
In the meantime, I can use your prayers as I work with the team at Moody to do the important tasks of editing, artwork, promotion, and more.
I’m very excited to get “Small Church Essentials” into the hands of every small church pastor who can benefit from it. And I’m especially grateful to you, the readers and conference attenders, who have given me such great feedback over the last several years.
Your comments have helped me hone the material so that it’s much better than what I could have done on my own. And your encouragement has given me the spark to keep writing.
If you want regular updates, follow my New Small Church Facebook page, where I’ll post info with much more frequency than on this blog.
Stay tuned. It’s gonna be fun!
